Just over 60 days ago I started to 60 Day Effectiveness Challenge https://www.wellsassoc.co.uk/the-60-day-effectiveness-challenge/
Here are the results both positive and negative.
Using a combination of the traffic light system https://www.wellsassoc.co.uk/four-coloured-traffic-lights/ and the app ATracker I discovered where the main areas of non-effectiveness are during my working day. In summary these are:
Administration In the Form Of Emails
Administration In The Form Of Statutory Requirements – Bookkeeping, Accounts, VAT etc
Travel
Workshop Work For The Honey Farm
I also discovered that I am not spending enough time on the main things that move me toward my goal.
So far I have begun work on solving the first two, I’m struggling with the third and fourth but ideas are in progress.
Over the next few blogs I will outline how I have reduced the amount of time I am spending on the first two by between 25% and 40% using Time Management, Asana, Evernote, Sage and Reminders.
With regard to the next two: Travel was already close to zero on the consultancy business and the majority is for the honey farm. This is difficult to reduce but by putting in place a new plan for travelling between apiaries and consolidation I believe I can dramatically reduce both the hours and miles. Watch out for blogs on this in the near future. Workshop Work in theory requires employing someone but I think a bit of extra organisation can increase the effectiveness here. More details soon.
In terms of items that move me toward my ultimate goal I have seen an increase of nearly 20% in the time I can dedicate to this without increasing my working day so that’s a major success.
That’s why the 60 day effectiveness challenge is so effective. How did you get on?
