Being effective means that you must adopt the best possible techniques to achieve your goal and here we see why digitalisation changes everything.
In the past the only jobs that were at risk were those that could be automated. In other words those jobs that require repetitive and easily replicable work. Digitalisation changes all of that.
Now any job that can be defined can be digitalised. That is anything where data of any kind, financial, medical etc. is observable and definable.
Jobs that would never have seemed at risk are falling like nine pins. Radiology and interpretation of scans, x-rays etc. any form of financial analysis based on ratios or rules. Even such things as taxi driving with the advent of self driving cars and high quality g.p.s.
In order for us to remain above all of this and be effective we need to ensure that what we do is so human and beyond definition that it can’t be digitised.
For the first time in history the waiter or waitress that presents a human smile and service beyond just food delivery is less at risk that the most advanced financial analyst or radiologist.
That’s why digitalisation changes everything.
What will you do to ensure what you do is so effective it cannot be digitalised and therefore ensure a future for you and / or your organisation?
