I hit a milestone last week by publishing the 100th effectiveness blog post. So, lets summarise what I have learned from 100 blog posts. Here are five of the highlights:
First of all, the most important thing. Effectiveness is not the same as efficiency or productivity. The Difference Between Effectiveness, Efficiency
Then the fact that effectiveness is not about doing the same old thing but better. Effectiveness Is Not About Faster Horses
To be effective leaders must fully understand and be completely enrolled in the objective. Effective Leaders Are Completely Enrolled In The Objective
We then must consider the fact that management and leadership are not the same thing and that to be effective we need more leaders Why Managers Are Not Effective But Leaders Are This is a big one. Far too many managers think they are leaders because they have authority.
Number five is that to be effective you do not / should not be a perfectionist. Perfection Is Not Effective
Over the course of 100 blogs there is, of course, a lot more but the above five are a great place to start.
Thanks for reading the blogs and I hope you have enjoyed them but more to the point I hope they have helped you to become more effective. We all have so much to learn about effectiveness and there are many more blogs to come.
