The 60 Day Effectiveness Challenge

Who fancies a challenge? The 60 day effectiveness challenge.

It struck me yesterday that it is a while since I did this in full (the last time was November 2021 and as so many things have changed in both my businesses since then it’s time I did it again.

The 60 day challenge works like this:

30 Days Data Gathering.

1 Day Planning

29 Days Implementing

In order to take part you must know what is your ultimate goal. Then you simply measure everything you do as being something that moves you toward that goal (Good) or something that doesn’t (Bad). You then have the percentage of time you spent being effective at the beginning of the exercise and the percentage at the end.

Bad managers love percentages and so the objective is not to just improve the percentages but to identify those areas where change will have the maximum effect on our ability to achieve our goal and then focus on those. It will also show us where we are spending time on things that can be eliminated, improved or contracted to others.

The objective is to champion those things that move us forward and put those first.

The data gathering exercise is actually ongoing for me and I use the traffic light method outlined in my blog https://www.wellsassoc.co.uk/four-coloured-traffic-lights/ but I’m going to do the challenge as you would, starting at Day 1. Please read the traffic light blog and use the method in there or something else if you prefer but the ultimate aim is to stay in the green and amber and out of the red and black.

We then want to make those items in the green and amber even more effective even if we don’t increase the time spent on them.

Remember anything that does not directly move you toward your goal is red or black. No exceptions and no cheating!  Only you need see the results.

This is a brilliant challenge for those of you who claim not to have enough time to do anything other than fire fight.

A bit of pre-challenge planning and organising is required especially if you don’t know what your goal is but we have a bank holiday coming up!

Are you up for the challenge? Or do you just fancy continuing as you are?

After 60 days the results are really interesting. Please have a look at them here https://www.wellsassoc.co.uk/why-the-60-day-effectiveness-challenge-is-so-effective/
