Often It’s The Small Things That Matter

Big ideas are great but usually require huge amounts of resources to put them into place. Government and politicians in particular love the big idea but so often it’s the small things that matter.

Students of Lean know all about Kaizen and continuous improvement but how often do they propose tiny projects?

The way to get things done is a little at a time. Small, easily managed projects done well are highly effective. The downside is they don’t make a big splash. Sensible organisations improve by doing a little continuously and well.

Once you know your objective, put in place many small markers to take you along the road. Life will be so much simpler, you will reach your objective faster and find it so much easier to take people with you.

Achieving many small things is so much more satisfying than struggling to complete one big task. It’s also so much easier to come in on time and on budget

Let’s hear it for the tiny project.

When it comes to being effective big isn’t beautiful. Politicians please take note.
