Big Data is one of wonders of the modern business environment. It’s all there and easy and cheap to access. What more could you possibly want? Having lots of data may be good but how effective is big data?
In order to be effective we are only interested in things that move us toward our goal. By implication the majority of big data is just noise and only a small amount will actually move us forward. The rest will, at best, be unhelpful and at worse tie up resources and lead us down the wrong road.
When considering Big Data we need to ensure we use it effectively and not just drown in it.
Big Data is also based on the past rather than the future so take care.
Effective people and organisations turn Big Data into Effective Data by rejecting most of it.
