We have all read about, and / or taken part in team meetings, and they can be good or bad. Many organisations have the regular team update meeting, either face to face or virtually, but how many of you have an effective team meeting with yourself?
If you are the sort of person who is organised then you will employ techniques such as to do lists, time blocking and if you are really good theĀ The Ivy Lee Method but the icing on the cake is a team meeting with yourself. Set aside a small amount of time, at least once a week, but preferably at the beginning of each day and treat yourself as a team. The ideal agenda is to do a quick summary of what happened yesterday, what went well and what didn’t. Make sure that the plan for today is the most effective one and ensure that you are on track with the ultimate goal in mind. This might seem like overkill, fluffy bunny stuff, but it’s not. Really effective people treat themselves as a team of one. Each of us will be playing many roles, all of which need managing in the same way as if each of those roles were performed by a different person.
